Assignments 12/18/18

Dear Students,

I will be out sick today. Please work on your assignments in class for the entire period. If you need help, ask a fellow classmate for assistance.

ANIMATION 1:


Please review for the Photoshop section of you exam. I will ask you to make a postcard so take a look at that particular video assignment from Photoshop Unit 01. Here is a video that explains how to find large images that are suitable for print.

ANIMATION 2: 

Please continue working on your storyboards and character designs. Remember for the storyboards I need a folder that contains one drawing per document. So I want to be able to click through the images and see only one drawing per file e.g.

File 01 - Single drawing
File 02 - Single drawing
File 03 - Single drawing
File 04 - Single drawing
File 05 - Single drawing
File 06 - Single drawing
etc

This allows us to view one drawing at a time and see how the story moves forward. If we have six drawings on one document the discussion can get confusing. So the first image file has just one drawing on it, the second image file has just one drawing on it etc.

ANIMATION 3:

I'd like everyone to assemble their work in a google slides presentation. Put your pieces in order by date. If you animated this semester you can produce a video in Adobe Premiere instead of a Google slides presentation.
 

Assignments 12/17/18

Dear Students,

I will be out sick today. Please work on your assignments in class for the entire period. If you need help, ask a fellow classmate for assistance.

ANIMATION 1:

I want you to create four animated clips using the different tween options that are available in Adobe Animate.



In the first clip I want you to animate a tween using the "Classic Ease." Notice that when you select this option the spacing is even throughout the entire animation. Each drawing moves the same distance as the previous drawing. Notice that the graph in the properties is a straight line (linear).




In the second clip I want you to animate a tween using the "Ease in." Notice that when you select this option the movement starts slow and then increases in speed. Take a look at the graph in the properties. The graph shows less distance traveled at the beginning and as time goes on, the distance each drawing travels increases.




In the third clip I want you to animate a tween using the "Ease Out." Notice that when you select this option the movement starts fast and then decreases in speed towards the end. Look at the graph in the properties. At the start the drawings are moving large distances as time moves forward and then you can see as we near the end the drawings move shorter distances.




In the fourth clip I want you to animate a tween using the "Ease In Out." Here we have a movement that starts slow, increases in speed in the middle, and then slows down again towards the end. Look at the graph and notice that the larger spacing is in the middle of the line, and the shorter distances are at the beginning and end.

Please turn in all four files as:

1st-Last, First-Linear Spacing
1st-Last, First-Ease In
1st-Last, First-Ease Out
1st-Last, First-Ease In Out



ANIMATION 2:

Assignments 11/29/18

Dear Students,

I will be absent Thursday for an all day FADA meeting. Please use your class time to complete assignments. The substitute will not be able to answer questions so please ask for help from a fellow classmate if you are stuck.

ANIMATION 1:

Please continue working in Adobe Animate. I'd like you to complete Unit 01 today.

ANIMATION 2:

Please continue your short action #3. Use the video reference to help plan your animation.

1. First find the storytelling poses. Which frames show the action clearly? You can exaggerate the poses in Animate. You don't have to draw the pose exactly as it is in the video. Remember exaggeration is one of the 12 principles of animation.

2. Find your extremes. Draw those on the timeline.

3. Put in your breakdowns. You can change these to make improvements to your arcs.

4. Then check your timing. Does something need to slow down or speed up? Do you need to add any pauses?

5. Draw your in betweens. Don't forget to slow in and slow out at the beginning and end of a movement!

6. Show your work to a partner.


ANIMATION 3:

Continue working on your portfolio.

Please work on your homonym/euphemism assignment in class.

ANIMATION 2:

Please work on the stairs assignment in Maya or Adobe Animate.

Continue working on your portfolio.

Assignments for 10/15/18

Dear Students,

I will be out on Monday. Please use your class time to complete assignments. The substitute will not be able to answer questions so please ask for help from a fellow classmate if you get stuck.

ANIMATION 1:

Finish your imitation assignment in class. Show it to someone and have them give you feedback before you turn it in. Is the story clear? Can they read it without you explaining any of the panels?

ANIMATION 2:

Finish your forward walk in Maya or Adobe Animate.

ANIMATION 3:

Continue working on your portfolio.



REMINDER: Field trip is on Wednesday. Bring back the permission slip by Tuesday at the latest!
